There were about two seconds there where I debated whether or not to even post this. The risk of looking like a weirdo was almost just too great. But I just felt like actually creating something for once though, rather than consuming all the time. That’s all we do these days in this digital age–consume, consume, consume. To an extent, we are all gluttonous consumers!
And not that I think anything’s weird or shameful about moon channeling, crystal-loving, oracle card-reading tendencies (in fact, I’m wildly intrigued and love it), but sometimes I find myself hiding my psyche-driven, spiritual (wannabe witchy) ways to the point of almost stifling them (?). (The question mark is because this is less of a statement and something I’m literally pondering as I type this–ahhhh the magic of purging onto a keyboard). I think with this kind of stuff, it’s important to share your experiences with other people. I feel like it’s like my karmic obligation or something lol.
Sometimes I have to tell my ego to check itself, and I feel like this is a great time to do so. I’ve been working with my friend Lynnea of The Vibrancy Project on some branding work lately, and the whole backbone to her business is to helping women channel their inner moonchild/mystic maven, while getting healthier, fitter and wealthier through spirituality and holistic healing. Needless to say, all this stuff has been heavy on the brain lately and has got me honing in on these vibes more than ever. I’ve always been intrigued with crystal healing, yoga and meditation, and I kind of think Lynnea popped back into my life again to remind me about my interest in that all.
Also, so many cool things have been happening to me lately. Almost like a string of awesome events one after another that have to be more than a coincidence, ya know? For the past two weeks, people and situations just keep aligning themselves in such a way that gives me shivers (Lynnea always talks about shivers and how they’re a sign from the universe letting you know you know you’re on to something or meant to do something). Let me tell you, I’ve been shivering a lot lately.
I thought I’d ride this wave and see how long I can keep these good, successional vibes going for. So obviously I bought a couple new crystals (lol here’s the part I meant about sounding like a crazy hippy witch). I love crystals. They’re just like the epitome of good vibes in object form to me. So I picked out a citrine and a clear quartz (or, as I’m told, they picked me lol) to add to my collection. They’re just so damn pretty. Okay and while I’m sounding borderline like a looney toon here, let me just tell you what happened last night. I was playing with my crystal angel oracle cards with a friend of mine and I turned over three cards (past, present, future), and the first two cards I turned over were the exact same new stones I had sitting right there. Out of all 44 possibilities, what are the chances those two crystal cards were the ones I turned over? THIS IS THE KIND OF STUFF that has been happening to me over and over again, but just a teeeeeeny example. I just keep meeting and connecting with people in really amazing, meaningful ways that each seem to tie into each other. I can’t help but notice it.
And then I realized today (Sunday, September 9th) is a new moon. I thought, that’s got to mean something, right? I’m so into these vibes that have been coming to me lately, I texted Lynnea and asked her to explain the new moon and it’s significance to me–how I can really hone in on it and channel some more good vibes going forward. Or whatever it’s supposed to do lol.
Here’s what she said (the part I wanted to share with you most):
“Yah girl it’s the new moon (the dark moon)! It’s dark time on the planet and within us as well – A time to reflect Inwards.
Another great thing to picture is planting seeds! This is the time where we plant seeds. Whatever we plant will grow!
If we focus on negative – it’ll grow throughout the month. But if we plant our intentions while grounding and accepting our current lives with gratitude —-all that will be sent off to return in abundance.
Use an object for sure, like a crystal. The moon is my anchor but crystals can be yours. Ground yourself on an anchor.
Set your intention into that object and set it into the universe with your mind.
Close your eyes. See your crystal in your third eye!
Imagine and feel your intention floating away. Then open yourself up to receive by doing a lot of sort of sensuous yoga basic yoga. Easy mindless meditative sequences. Lots of hip openers!!
Accepting where you are now in life is key–you can’t receive if you aren’t open and don’t have the space.”
(I found this awesome explanation from cherokeebilliespiritualadvisor.com)
New moon rituals are perfect for planting new seeds and starting afresh. We are essentially working on the blank canvas of the dark moon where our ideas can gestate in the new moon soil. These thought-seeds are slowly awoken by the growing crescent moon as the day’s progress towards the illumination of the full moon. The darkness of the new moon gives peace and tranquility while our seed intentions slowly take root and sustenance form the fertile earth below. This period cannot be rushed and it is a great time to have some quiet dark-moon time to compose our goals and plans for the month ahead. Any wishes made at this time carry great force.
I’m so on it. How about you? Let me know how the new moon affects you and if you’re doing anything to channel it’s new moon-y powers!
